Our History
In 1992, Robert Bowman founded Premier Home Builders and gave up the full-time practice of law. Having grown up next to his grandfather’s cow farm, he couldn’t quite get his love for the outdoors off his mind. Neither could he get the sawdust out of his blood from riding in his dad’s pick-up truck to and from the homes he was building for others. At an early age, Robert experienced the meetings his dad had with his clients as the pesky kid in the corner. As he grew older, he was handed a hammer and a broom and told to clean out the houses and to salvage all the good wood. The work was hard but it was better than the allowance he received. Throughout his early years, his dad taught him the lessons he learned from his dad and also the ones he learned along the way as well. The biggest lesson was to take pride in whatever you do, or don’t do it at all. Others were just as important as to do honest work for honest pay to remember who you are working for. Building skills came along by both trial and error and by daddy supervision. His dad always stressed that it was the other person making the house payment so make sure they are as happy as they can be when they mail their check off. Robert enjoyed playfully competing with his dad’s company before his dad retired and said that daddy school was over and that graduation was complete. Robert’s dad still comes by occasionally to “check on things” when he needs to get out of the house.
Over the last 35 plus years, Robert’s role has taken on many hats in the building process. From the small steps of building his first personal house in the mid-80s to acquiring land, putting in streets, and building out all of the houses, he has learned the importance of every step in delivering a quality house that buyers love. While no two projects may look similar, they all have the same quality standards and they are all designed to meet those buyers needs. An interesting tidbit is that you learn more building starter homes for young families because every dollar seems to have to do more. In custom homes, the options grow exponentially but the value concept has to dictate to keep it affordable. Its this lifetime of experience that makes Premier Home Builders unique in the market place.

Throughout his childhood, Robert’s father taught him the lessons he has carried on throughout his career. Some of these lessons include the value of taking pride in whatever you build.
He also taught Robert that the homes you build are for the people you build them for (and not for you). In this way, Robert was trained to be a custom homebuilder from an early age.
Robert went on to graduate from Emory with an undergraduate degree. He went on to become a commercial lender before deciding to go to Georgia State for law school, but he couldn’t get the sawdust out of his blood. He went back to building houses in the mid-80s.
Once he started Premier Home Builders, he never looked back and has been doing what he loves ever since. He describes himself as a man lucky enough to be doing what he loves.
Thirty-five years later, Robert has developed subdivisions and built homes all around Atlanta including homes in Buford, Dacula, Oakwood, Jefferson, Bethlehem.
